Techstars describes itself as a “global ecosystem for entrepreneurs to bring technologies to the market” and maintains partnerships with corporations such as Amazon, IBM and Bosch. It has earned an international reputation for helping incubate and accelerate start-ups from idea to execution. Key elements of the program are extensive mentorship to entrepreneurs and networking young businesses with large corporations and experts.
By teaming up with Techstars, next47 not only can invest in young companies participating in the program, the partnership also allows next47 to support Siemens sponsored teams to start their own innovative business. Siemens applicants have the opportunity to take part in two programs in 2017: the “Internet of Things” program in New York City and the “Mobility” program in Detroit. During each program, start-up founders will receive intensive support from Techstars and have access to a network of more than 5,000 fellow start-up founders.
Techstars will coach the teams in refining their strategies, exploring partnerships and pilots, expanding customer bases and revenues, and preparing to attract outside investors. Participating start-ups will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of dozens of successful companies, including Uber.
The application process for both programs is open and lasts until April 9. All applications can be submitted on www.techstars.com/apply/. Teams should tick the box “Other” in the section “How did you hear about this program” and specify that you are either a Siemens employee team or that your start-up is in contact with Siemens/next47.
